Inverton Base – FAQ

  1. What is Inverton Base?

Inverton Base is a hidden facility in the Scottish Highlands, an offshoot of the ancient Deus Ex organization. It serves as a hub for Hunters who protect Earth from incursions by creatures from other realms, especially the realm known as Halloween. Here, Hunters work alongside former enemies, harnessing fear-based energies to combat the rising threat of the Uprising.

  1. What exactly are Hunters?

Hunters are individuals who have been recruited by Deus Ex due to their sensitivity to fear, often manifested as an ability to perceive the creatures lurking at the edges of human reality. Once recruited, they bond with sentient, mythological weapons and dedicate their lives to the protection of humanity from unseen threats.

  1. What is a weapon in this world?

Weapons in Inverton are sentient beings forged from fear energy, each taking the form of a mythical or legendary creature. They bond with Hunters, aiding them in battle and offering a complex, often intimate relationship that evolves over time. Weapons have multiple forms, from a wieldable combat form to humanoid and natural forms.

  1. What is the Uprising?

The Uprising is a faction of rogue Halloween creatures who have broken away from their original hierarchy. Unlike Deus and Halloween’s traditional enforcers, they believe that humanity should be subjugated rather than protected. Led by a figure named Fell (who operates in secret within Deus), the Uprising is the primary antagonist threatening Inverton’s operations.

  1. What kind of characters can I create?

As a new player, you’ll most likely create a human Hunter as your first character, but other options include members of factions such as Halloween or the Black Team, who are otherworldly beings integrated into the base’s operations. Each character will have their own unique personality, weapon, and combat style, shaped by the world around them.

  1. Can I play as a non-human character?

Yes! While it’s recommended that new players start with a human Hunter to get a sense of the world, you can also play as creatures from Halloween, such as those in the Black Team, who live among humans in disguise. They bring a different flavor of gameplay with their unique abilities and backstories.

  1. What are the divisions in Inverton?

Inverton is structured into five main divisions, each focusing on different aspects of base life and the battle against Halloween’s creatures. These include:

Sun: Leaders in combat and battlefield tactics.
Moon: Experts in defense, technology, and energy manipulation.
Life: Healers, researchers, and medical personnel.
Death: Specialists in offense, stealth, and reconnaissance.
Mist: Focused on intelligence gathering and working with magical artifacts.

  1. What are the Black Coats/Black Team?

The Black Team, or Black Coats, are Halloween creatures and Vetted Horsemen who live among humans at Inverton, helping to combat the Uprising. They hide in plain sight as runic Hunters but are distinguishable by their unique role and ability to move between human and creature forms.

  1. How does roleplay work in Inverton Base?

Roleplay at Inverton Base is text-focused and narrative-driven. Players are encouraged to lead their own character stories while collaborating with others in missions, events, or everyday life around the base. The environment is flexible, allowing for a range of activities from casual character interactions to large, high-stakes missions against powerful enemies.

  1. What kind of plots or events can I expect?

Inverton offers a mix of self-led, player-generated plots as well as larger community events. From intense combat missions to unraveling the mysteries of Halloween and its creatures, there’s something for everyone. Players are encouraged to engage in both personal character arcs and broader storylines involving the base’s ongoing fight against the Uprising.

  1. Do I need to be familiar with the entire lore to join?

Not at all! While understanding the world’s lore will enhance your experience, you can start small, learn through roleplay, and ask questions. There are plenty of experienced players and guides available to help you find your way.

  1. Can I leave the base once I join as a Hunter?

Once a character joins the Deus Ex organization, they effectively leave their old life behind—literally. Their past is erased, and they live at the base. However, the story opportunities that open up more than make up for the life they left behind!
